Total comfort whilst maximising the harmony between you and your horse

The Christ Lammfelle Bareback pad or ‘Fellsattel’. Premium PLUS Bareback pad with composite foam shims and knee rolls.

Composite foam shims placed either side of the spinal canal ensure extra comfort for horse and rider on longer rides. The knee rolls help with rider position and are a great help with balance if your horse is a bit ‘sharp or spooky’.

Used with a dressage girth.

Beautifully crafted and anatomically shaped, this pad has a lambskin upper for rider to sit on and lambskin underneath against your horses back, with a hard wearing, quilted, cotton twill numnah in between.

There are insert pouches either side of the spine for composite foam padding, giving extra comfort to both you and your horse. These pads can be removed when washing or for an even closer contact with your horse.

There is a strong loop at the front of pad to aid balance if required and great for carrying the pad. D rings are postioned on the pad for use of a breast plate, crupper and training aids if required. There are also strong metal D rings to attach stirrups if required to aid balance (D rings are attached to the strong webbing material that is sewn into the pad).

All the Bareback pads have a foam cantle block (removable when washing) to give support to the rider. Girth straps are made from treated leather.

Christ Lammfelle Premium Plus bareback pad

Christ Lammfelle Premium Plus bareback pads are made of the finest grade Merino lambskin and skilfully crafted to provide maximum comfort to horse and rider. Pads are supersoft and supple, easy to care for and very hard wearing.

A rough guide to Bareback pad sizes

The size of the Bareback pad will not actually affect your horse/pony as it is treeless, totally flexible and has no pressure points. The size of pad is determined by the rider, rather than the size of horse/pony.

As a rough guide: Pony size pads suit children and riders up to UK size 10. Full size pads are suited to riders UK size 10/12 and above.

Colours available: Natural (natural undyed lambskin top and bottom with black panels) Charcoal (Dark charcoal lambskin upper, natural underside with black panels) Brown (Dark brown lambskin upper, natural underside with light brown panels)

100% Medical grade Merino lambskin with hard wearing cotton twill. This bareback riding pad sets new standards in terms of riding feel and riding therapy. Tests carried out by independent expert riders and riding therapists have confirmed the positive qualities and the effect of this bareback pad on both horse and rider.

Lambskin products are very hard wearing and easy to keep clean – they do not provide a breeding ground for viruses and bacteria, and they neutralize acids and odours and are naturally dirt resistant. They have been designed to easily withstand normal washing in the machine at low temperatures and even tumble drying! We would recommend using a specialist detergent as regular washing powders will strip the natural oils from the hide.

    A very well made bareback saddle that is ergonomically suited to a horse back, giving protection to its spine and back muscles, gentle padding support to the rider, and overall more protection than riding pure bareback. I bought this to use while my saddle was being repadded, and after my horse had pulled a trapezius muscle.

    A great way for a rider to practice balance, position and movement in harmony with the horse, and to do this in all gaits (although I’d advise against sitting trot in young horses without developed backs). It takes some getting used to not have stirrups, although there are stirrup attachment straps if preferred. However, my personal view is not to use stirrups in a treeless saddle / bareback pad as it often introduces pressure points.

    Overall: great for balance, comfortable for the horse and overall I’m delighted with my purchase. I must also commend The Comfy Horse Co on ensuring swift deliver and excellent service. Highly recommended all round!
