The Flexible Filly Slow Feed Grazing Muzzle is unlike the typical heavy, hard, and “cage-like” apparatus.

The design has been completely rethought to be softer, lighter and less confining. Constructed of a pliable material that reduces the chances of the muzzle getting snagged, it is also soft on equine teeth and lips.

The Flexible Filly Slow Feed Grazing Muzzle is well-ventilated and safe, rated to break just before your leather turnout halter. The muzzle is made from one of the most durable polymers on the planet, fungal/mould/UV resistant.

Don’t let all that simplicity get in the way. It has taken years to get the right materials to work this well! It is safe, effective and durable.

The muzzle is ideal for slowing down speedy eaters, limiting grazing, and can help curb minor cribbing problems. The muzzle can also keep horses from chewing on leg wraps, wood, or blankets. It works extremely well with all automatic waterers and has UV protection which works much like sunscreen for those delicate noses.

Veterinary Recommendations for grazing muzzles hole sizes are as follows.

24/7 Full time grazing in a muzzle; 3.5 to 4 cm.

Restricted grazing; for horses who require substantially less sugar intake; 2 to 3 cm depending on horse size.

Thinline Flexible Filly Slow Feed Grazing Muzzle

Thinline Flexible Filly Grazing Muzzle is available in three sizes. There is so much flexibility in this horse grazing muzzle it will fit a variety of horses. You can choose the same size as you have your halter.

So if you have a pony Halter, you choose the pony Muzzle.  Easy peasy!

Mini to small pony: Order the small.

Cob or Arabian: Order the medium.

Horse or Oversize: Order the large.

Applying your new muzzle.

What you will need:

  1. Halter: We recommend you commit a dedicated well fitting breakaway halter to your muzzle. See the Thinline halter here ThinLine Flexible Breakaway Halter – The Comfy Horse Company
  2. 10 Minutes: It generally takes about 10 minutes to get everything perfect the first time you install a Flexible Filly Slow Feed Grazing Muzzle. Subsequent halters will take about 3 minutes.

How to begin:

Use the enclosed paper ties or a string to discover the best holes to secure your muzzle to your halter. The paper ties are a temporary tool allowing you to easily adjust the fit. Once you are satisfied you have the correct holes aligned to the halter please remove the paper ties or string and permanently secure the muzzle with the included cable ties.

How to orient the muzzle:

Two of the “fins” have a triangle cut out. These attach to the square (side) rings on your turnout halter. Three fins will connect to the nose band, one in the center, the other two fall naturally to the sides of center. Three fins will connect to the chin band; one in the center, two naturally to the sides of the center. (see image below).

Securing the muzzle:

First secure each triangle cut out fin with one of the enclosed low profile cable ties. Do not wrap the fins around the halter, doing so may cause rubs. After finding the best fit for your horse, simply trim the excess fin material just above the top hole being used. It is fine to wait a day or two to ensure your muzzle is a comfortable distance from your horse’s mouth prior to trimming.

How the proper fit looks:

When properly installed, the muzzle should be close to but not touching the nose of the horse. If the muzzle is touching the nose simply make the fins under the chin longer, this will lift the muzzle away from the nose. The “keeper” on the cable tie are on the outside of the muzzle and the excess is facing down and trimmed close. If you find there is too much grazing room be sure your fins are snugly secured to your halter. The fins should not move along the nose band. If it does simply pull the cable tie tighter.

Flexible Filly Slow Feed Grazing Muzzles come with a full 6-month product replacement warranty.

This warranty only applies to the original muzzle. Any replacement muzzles are not covered by the same warranty.

Before you return, please email 2 photos of your horse wearing the muzzle. One grazing and one not grazing.

He never complained about wearing his bucket muzzle, but I always felt guilty especially when it is really hot and he was sweating in it and it rubbed him on his chin.     Very pleased with the grazing muzzles, my 2 Spanish mares have always been good doers but other muzzles have either rubbed them or not stayed on. These work great, no rubbing , no problem keeping them on and they don’t mind having them put on. The girls are both at stud at the moment and the vets think they are great and approve of them greatly. So glad I decided to try them.

    Very good, safety and so lightweight , doesn’t move. My horses hated the last grazzing muzzles ( that did a great job, but were a bit to heavy) . No fight to put it, but a bit longer to understand how to get the grass than other grazzing muzzle.

    This grazing muzzle is a must if you have a laminitic/EMS pony! I have always managed my boy’s lami by bringing him in off the grass for 13 hours everyday, rather than by using a muzzle. But saw these and thought they looked a better design than all the other webbing or plastic style muzzles available. What I really liked is it sits away from the face, on top of a regular leather head collar, so no rubbing at all and it’s so light for them to wear. He can drink happily out of it, and if the grass is wet, it doesn’t end up all soggy and heavy. No idea if it is affecting his teeth – but so far, he looks completely normal when he is grazing. He is out most of the time now and is much happier than stuck in the yard most of the day. On sizing, initially I got it wrong as I thought because he’s a 14.1hh chunky Connemara in a cob sized bridle (with a full sized head piece) he would need a medium but after the excellent help from Claire and Laura at Comfy horse, we moved him down into a pony size muzzle and the fit is now perfect. We also have a very fine over height British Riding pony, and the pony size fits her too. They are generously sized, and if your pony starts eating out the side, it’s probably too big! Once fitted correctly they are fantastic. You can make the hole bigger, but with a pony like mine, I decided to stay safe and keep it small! Would definitely recommend if you are thinking about buying one!

    Top customer service. I can’t recommend Comfy Horse highly enough. I bought a flexible filly grazing muzzle for my welsh D, I’d used conventional muzzles before, but they either rubbed his face or the back of his lower lip, so started restricting his grazing, which him and his companion weren’t happy about as they both love having a play and a gallop in their paddocks, a friend showed me her ‘new muzzle’, the flexible filly, she let me try it and pow! he used it without objection and after the first week, he had lost some weight so i bought one to see how it went before buying another for my welsh mare, everything went really well with the one i bought for my gelding, so i went ahead and purchased another for my mare, so 2 lots of £74.99 + p&p…expensive, but far cheaper than a vets bill for colic or laminitis, and altogether happier, fitter horses who enjoy being ridden. One (or 2) of the best items ive bought for my 2 Welsh Ds. Claire and Laura were so nice and efficient in dealing with my orders quickly. Since seeing how well my 2 have coped with the Flexible Filly grazing muzzle, my best mate has also bought one for her horse and agrees that it was well worth the money.

    Great hasn’t rubbed and I’ve tried most on the market as my horse gets determined to get as much grass as she can, so eventually even with well padded muzzles She will often get sores. Will aim to test it over the next few months.

    He has certainly lost weight while wearing this, but no problems with rubbing. There is a slight split developing at the hole after two months’ use, but it doesn’t seem to be a problem yet. Much better than his old muzzle.

    I found I had to fit the muzzle tighter than the instructions initially as my pony worked out how to eat from the gaps from the sides. Once he had worked out how to eat through the central hole (which I made a bit bigger) I was able to loosen it off again. I’m delighted with it and I think it’s much more comfortable for the horse than the traditional bucket muzzles.
