Lily is an FEI dressage pony rider based in Wiltshire. Her passion for the sport is in her blood, as her mum competes at a high level in dressage and Lily has clearly inherited all the dressage superstar genes!
“I started to do a bit of dressage and then switched to showjumping, which I also loved, but dressage was the one for me,” says Lily, who has been riding since she was three.
The Comfy Horse team just love following and supporting our rising stars and Lily is such a talented rider, representing Great Britain in the Under 16s and recently placing in the 2018 Winter Nationals at Hartpury with two ponies!
So who are in Lily’s stables at present? She has 14.2 Chestnut pony Cadillac and the newest recruit, Darcy, who they bought at the end of November.
“Cadillac is an FEI dressage pony who is competing at FEI. We are on the GB Prime squad and hoping to go internationally next year,” says Lily.
For the less dressage savvy among us, the Prime and Progress squads are an important stepping stone for riders under 21 to continue their journey to international competitions and NAF Championship teams.
“Darcy is from European rider Alex Hardwick; he competed at the Nationals at the tender age of five and I’m really looking forward to the future with him,” adds Lily.
Lily’s tried and tested lots of Comfy Horse products for us, but we were curious to know which has been the stand out one for her so far.
“I love every single product, but it has to be the Kerrits Ice Fil Technical Tights,” says Lily, who is very selective of the products she uses on her ponies.
“It has to be right for the horse and give them the most comfortable support they require. The right product can make a very big difference to the ponies’ way of going. Everything needs to fit to perfection.”
So what’s Lily’s main aim for the New Year? “We are really aiming for the Pony Europeans, but we will see how things go,” she says.
Good luck Lily and we look forward to keeping you up to date with news of the pursuit of her dressage dreams!
